Romantic comedy set in London in the late 16th century: Young playwright William Shakespeare struggles with his latest work 'Romeo and Ethel the Pirate's Daughter'. A great fan of Shakespeare's plays is young, wealthy Viola who is about to be married to the cold-hearted Lord Wessex, but constantly dreams of becoming an actress. Women were not allowed to act on stage at that time (female roles were played by men, too), but dressed up as a boy, Viola successfully auditions for the part of Romeo. Soon she and William are caught in a forbidden romance that provides rich inspiration for his play.

It is difficult not enjoy Shakespeare in Love. It is witty, intelligent and beautiful shot. The performances - with the exception of Gwyneth Paltrow, which should maintain the present time - are solid (but not deserve the Oscar, one has to applaud Judi Dench for admission.) But that's just about all there is to this nice piece of lint. There is no real substance, and all nominations for Shakespeare and the smoldering looks, it's basically your average love story helped. It has none of the depth that made Truman Show and The End of Elizabeth pending. A pleasant, nice, the picture? Certainly. The best of the year? Definitely not.

This was not the best Shakespeare in Love Romance of the year, but it was good, solid entertainment. Is a DivX film Shakespeare in Love to remember fondly. The story is very much in the sense of Shakespeare - "playing a game," Cross-dressing and mistaken identity hidden. Nothing is gained in comparison with a contemporary piece is a tribute to Shakespeare's plot devices. This DivX film Shakespeare in Love is for all the poor who did study Shakespeare at school. The characters are bright and sympathetic. His speech is intelligible. Footnotes not required! :-) Do not be discouraged by the fact that he won an award inappropriate. That is not the fault of the film, so do not hold against it. Forget about the award and just enjoy the movie. It is a joyful ride well worth the price of a ticket.
