| I just saw the Queen of the River today. It's not as bad as the critics say. But it is not as good as could have been. The acting is good for drivers, Cliff Curtis demonstrates how world class and it is great to see Temuera Morrison to act again. And as an unpopular opinion, and I thought it could be Samantha Morton was very good. The cinematography is impressive and sometimes impressive. However, (we knew that he had but one.). The voice is really annoying and it seems just as obvious when the players just prefer to be allowed to show. I also found the first half hour or so it's really hard, it seemed disjointed and felt more like a short film. The action sequences were well done and captured in battle and without the volatile handheld camera work that everybody is using these days. In general the DivX Movie River Queen is worth a look I'm sure everyone will have something from him. Note: If your fan of Kiefer Sutherland. He is really just there so they can put your name on the sign there are a lot of local players who could have played that role. |
| River Queen tries a complicated package, sweeping, historical narrative in just under two hours. There are some impressive battle scenes and the landscape is beautiful Wanganui captured. However, the River Queen Adventure movie suffers from some poor results - Samantha Morton (Sarah), especially through wine as unconvincing. There seems to be a hesitation about how the role should be played - as a helpless Waif thrown by fate or as a strong, determined character with a clear vision of their destiny. Kiefer Sutherland character - Private Doyle - and it seems pointless for the most part - unintelligible. Keifer's Irish brogue needs a little polishing. Moreover, Cliff Curtis, Temuera Morrison and Rawiri Pene (as the son of Sarah "Boy") are well-rounded and credible. The last 20 minutes of the river met the Queen as a private and rushed tablet. It looked as if they had decided to tie all the loose ends before they were up to 120 minutes. How for example, land Wiremu not know how to find and Sarah Doyle? No explanation was given and very unsatisfactory. I made this DVD film River Queen to go with an open mind. I had not read or heard something far beyond its production difficult. What was a mish experience mixing the history of New Zealand, but ultimately disappointing beautifully photographed. |
| When I saw the two stars that the NZ Herald has not discouraged me, because the same criticism was 5 stars King Kong, which was the worst River Queen Adventure film I've seen all year! River Queen was a beautiful film. The representation of the musket wars of colonial New Zealand was excellent. The unique beauty of the landscapes of New Zealand was impressive, the music seems to be an amazing mixture of Maori and Irish influence was very exciting, and added a lot of energy in the River Queen Adventure film as a whole. The spectacular musical piece that was played just before the battles improved forecasting everything. I must also add that when the boy was just mesmerized by her voice that I did not realize he was singing an Irish song! I would like to see the River Queen Adventure movie again just for that scene alone! I loved seeing the characters. I do not think the performance was brilliant, but the boy was superb in the scene where one to tell your mother, but the actors are attractive and pleasant to watch. I would recommend this DivX Movie River Queen if you enjoy breathtaking scenery, visual effects and art with water color, a good story based on history, and very well located and the use of original music, or if you enjoy the learning story of a unique culture that few people know. |
| Boy I do not like the Queen of the River. The scenery was stunning, magnificent, brilliant history, and the music was a hauntingly beautiful game to an incredible movie. I always thought it would be great if a DVD film River Queen is set during the Maori war that was similar to Michael Mann of "The Last of the Mohicans." Well this is by Joffe nuances of "The Mission" to boot. He grabs the Queen River and noted that in a world that only learned in history books. Not taking sides, but it is beautiful and the ugly on both sides in the conflict. The chemistry between the main actors is powerful and moving and keeps the people of history in the foreground, which plunged by stopping the powerful image of war. I always thought I would have our own Peter Jackson (Sir Peter should) make a film: River Queen of this quality in New Zealand and New Zealand. But I take my hat off to Vincent Ward. River Queen, there is an incredible depth of talent in the creation of films that this small country again and again knocks over his weight. |
| A good example of reverse, the politically correct racism where white men are like beasts with no sense that there is only to be massacred and their opponents as heroes Aboriginal noble, superior both in appearance and abilities. Apart from making history overally boring, it also prevents the neutral spectator to identify with one side or the other - is too simplified. The result is incredibly annoying repetitive (as the voice-over), the characters lack depth and spectators soon lost among the questions as "Who is this character" and "What the hell does that mean." The picture is wonderful, however, and especially there is a lot of atmosphere, but good cloud pictures of landscapes alone will not save this movie. Kiefer Sutherland uses the DVD as an eye-catcher. In fact, his character could have been played by someone else, because it is basically just an empty shell (as most non-Maori characters), and goes about half of the DVD film River Queen anyway. But if you are eager to see Jack Bauer in a kilt, which is your type of River Queen film ... |
