| I missed a night at McCool's in the movies, but the rental period is one year later and saw that on my DVD player. I expected to see a good One Night at McCool's Comedy movie with a couple of good laughs and that is what I have. It is not a masterpiece and can not every joke, but it is absolutely worth a rental. First, because of Liv Tyler. She looks very hot in all these little dresses and I can not believe there is no man who can not keep their eyes when the picture fills the screen. I also liked that the story is told from different perspectives. Each of the three men (Matt Dillon, Paul Reiser, John Goodman) tells her story of how they met Jewel (Liv Tyler), which leads to opposite retellings of certain situations, sometimes very funny. And the last scene is hilarious with Paul Reiser. By far the biggest laugh of the film. Perhaps the story is not very credible, and perhaps the characters are one-dimensional stereotypes, but who cares? They are fun. OK, the DVD film One Night at McCool's is not very realistic, but hell ... is a comedy and comedy fun, because they are often the exaggeration of the situations and / or characters. | I must admit, I liked this movie, and didn't find any misogynist. It could be subtitled, three ways to look at Liv Tyler. Three men obsessed with the same woman, and tell their stories to different people: A man (John Goodman) tells his story to a priest (the very funny Richard Jenkins). For Goodmans charcter, the Liv Tyler character is an idealized saint, the second coming of his wife saint Theresa.For Paul Riesers character (which tellls story to a psychiatrist (a fine, understated performance by the great Reba McIntire), the Liv Tyler character is simply the subject of (Kinky) sexual fantasy. Finally, in place of Matt Dillons dimwitted charcter says his side of the sordid story of a man successful, played by Michael Douglas.All three of these descriptions of obsession are told at the same time , and all fun. Finally, the One Night at McCool's Comedy movie ends with an oddly entertaining climax, which I wont give away. |
