The above summaries do a great job of describing the dynamics of the love triangle that develops between the two pilots that fall in love with the same nurse. The movie also does a credible job of displaying the war from the American side with FDR and our side. It also shows the strategy of Japan as they plan for and execute all facets of the attack on Pearl Harbor. While all details may not be historically correct, I believe that they do the job well - all things considered. Historic events that were altered were probably done so in an attempt to also make this movie the entertaining epic that it is.

Weak, weak, weak. The battle setting pieces are well done, but the story is ultra contributed so bad, just do not care about the people who bombed - CGI are just filler. Ben Affleck becomes another square-jawed yet numbingly boring performance. Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale are much better, but can not rise above the material. Done much more efficiently with more effect on the ability to primitive "Tora Tora Tora! Rental and avoid this turkey. In fact, avoid any food touched Michael Bay.

The big problem with this Pearl Harbor War film is very expensive as the characters are wooden and terribly mediocre screenplay is not helping much either. The action scenes are all the corners of smart bombs hitting targets and big budget explosion. And the revenge attack after the attack is pretty useless too. War films tend to fall into two brackets, the type of action adventure that obviously have little to do with the reality of war. Then the dark kind that attempts to hand the horrors that war brings. Pearl Harbor, unfortunately, is stuck somewhere in between and is not a good mix.
