Giulio, a film student working on his thesis, spends most of his time at the local video store, when he's not busy watching German expressionists or classic thrillers. One night at the store he becomes acquainted with Sasha, who turns out to live across the street from his apartment. The next day, Sasha's mother is found dead. Giulio is convinced the murder has been inspired by the films of Alfred Hitchcock, and against his new girlfriend's advice, decides to start his own investigation.

After this promising start with a child to spy on two women in a forest and then back to an old house where witnesses who do things in a chicken that are perhaps beyond the call of duty by the mere fact of their preparation for dinner, after which he pursued through the woods, threatening to kill him. Fast forward 15 years and we find our young hero in July still has the gift of being nosy, and we are rather in a rear window of the establishment of two types of apartment buildings that face each other. Of course, in July has been spying on the most attractive of the tenants, and she lives with her mother at least until her mother was killed. July, of course, Super-Sleuth is playing at the moment and nosing around. As he pokes Pries and becomes more and more embroiled in the mystery, of course. This is a great little homage to Hitchcock, and there are bits and pieces and themes from the films of Hitchcock strewn throughout this whole production, so if you do like Hitchcock you definitely get a kick out of that. I know I did. This is by no means as horrific as some of Argento previous outings, but was made for Italian television so that might have something to do with it. If you like Hitchcock and Argento, you will definitely enjoy this, it was not until some of Argento, but the earlier work which is a great little Do You Like Hitchcock? Thriller movie and worth seeing. 8 out of 10.
