Miss Marple is invited to London to see her old friend Ruth. Miss Marple was a sort of traveling companion to Ruth and her sister, Carrie Louise. Ruth is worried about Carrie Louise. She doesn't know why, though. Ruth asks Miss Marple to come with her to her sister's estate, Stonygates. Stonygates is a huge manor house, and some of the buildings and the grounds are used by Carrie Louises' current husband, Lewis, as a reformatory for juvenile criminals. Miss Marple meets the people who live there - Carrie Louise's grand-daughter Gina and her malcontent American husband Walter; Stephen and Alex Restarick, Carrie Louise's stepsons by her first marriage; Edgar Lawson, Lewis' mentally unstable secretary; and Carrie Louise's daughter, Mildred, who is jealous of Gina. Soon, Carrie Louise's stepson by her second marriage shows up. He is Christian Guldbrandsen, and he runs the trust which contributes a fraction of the funds used to run Stonygates. He and Lewis talk in private. Later that night, Edgar begins waving a gun around and ranting that Lewis is his father. Lewis takes him to his office where the argument becomes even more heated. After a few minutes, two shots are heard, and then hysterical crying. The door opens to reveal Lewis, unhurt. Edgar missed him. However, the body of Christian Guldbrandsen is discovered, shot. Miss Marple sets out to find the murderer before it is too late for her good friend Carrie Louise.

Spoilers here. Dame Agatha must turn and turn. She spends her energy to find the edge and spread thin among the confusion tempt us in a game. It is one of the trick in all literature. But along comes the big boot TeeVee that (apparently) requires that people do not want to think, to throw overboard all the tracks and games. Bowen's other adaptations generally plod along and surprise us all in the end. We are not detectives, but the confusion among people in the room to which the explanations are late. But this is the worst. Christie often gives clues indirectly through the establishment of a theme: here is the illusion, the illusion of magic, theater, cinema, ballet. He keeps all of this, but blunt. That keeps some of the events of distraction, but do not ripen any of them: 'What is the student to sneak out? Why siblings seriously pursue a married woman? Hickson Marples of all, this is the greatest distance between the coherence of the book and the incoherence of the adaptation. Ted's Evaluation - 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of his life.

Unfortunately, this is not one of my favorites in the series of BBC Hickson. I think to do a little towards the end and this was one of the following conduct. It is not really one of the best books of Marple, in my opinion, and this adaptation sticks closely to the source material. The story had a previous output Helen Hayes as Miss Marple and the American one years old Bette Davies and her friend Carrie Louise. Both characters are enhanced in this version - in fact, Jean Simmons' image Carrie Louise was the culmination of the film: They Do It with Mirrors for me. Joss Ackland made a fairly decent job as the frustrated Serrocold-Lewis do good but I'm not really a fan of this actor in general, and the rest of the cast are so-so. The character of Ruth van Rydock is more to do in the book that works pretty well, but I missed the character of Miss Bellevista (the excellent Frances de la Tour in the They Do It with Mirrors film Hayes). Go through a couple of pleasant hours, but there are better entries in this series.

Christie is in some excavations to fashion and philanthropy allows reformatory boss Lewis Serocold peak on the need to rely on young offenders and to betray a frightening symbiosis with one of the criminals who should be in an asylum in friendly somewhere.

Miss Marple is the best of friends, with two aging sisters. A sister, who thinks otherwise is in danger, Miss Marple has to pay a timely visit. Upon arrival found a large amount of variety of garden types and maladjusted school reform, along with their caregivers, sharing the goods on his friend. All this makes for a really great plot, including the murder of the family by the Patriarch of Miss Marple, which is further exacerbated their already very sharp wit to solve the crime. This is one of the best movie: They Do It with Mirrors adaptations of television to preserve the fabric of the novel to the screen. The script and flows, has no obvious holes or gaps, the acting is grade A, and the direction is superb. I recommend this DivX Movie They Do It with Mirrors as one of the best Miss Marple Movies TV ever!

This Agatha Christie novel has been adapted for the screen once before, in 1985, with Helen Hayes as Miss Marple: the DVD film They Do It with Mirrors is called "Murder with Mirrors", and is, in my opinion, better than the later version: the mystery is better constructed, with the huge distraction of "poisoning" the accumulated from the start, and apart from a weak Carrie Louise (Bette Davis was obviously in poor health at the time), the earlier version had more attractive in most action functions. For example, while both are quite nice pages, MWM in her husband also was a nice fellow and he wanted to "kiss up", in Todd Boyce TDWM is so bleak in the same paper, which I hope the poor girl will divorce va! Despite being about 15 minutes shorter, MWM does a better job of explaining the plot, while the resolution TDWM feel rushed. It really is a 5 / 10 movie, but it gave me an extra point for the final shot deeply sad - easily the best moments of the film.

This version comes with the history of Christie accuracy, but the issue is so unsettled details of the plot are often difficult to follow. Do not worry, though, intuitively, if not deductively, you spot the murderer without much trouble. Good cast, especially Jean Simmons, and great scenery make it an enjoyable watch. Joan Hickman, however, as Miss Marple not only cut enough for me.
