Clive Barker's feature directing debut graphically depicts the tale of a man and wife who move into an old house and discover a hideous creature - the man's half-brother, who is also the woman's former lover - hiding upstairs. Having lost his earthly body to a trio of S&M demons, the Cenobites, he is brought back into existence by a drop of blood on the floor. He soon forces his former mistress to bring him his necessary human sacrifices to complete his body... but the Cenobites won't be happy about this.

This is truly revolutionary horror from a very imaginative mind of Clive Barker. Hellraiser is one of the best horror films ever made, much less out of the eighties. This demonstrates that no rule Slasher movies horror screen. There are other, more films in the genre. The cenobitical pending. They steal the show completely. Pinhead (played by Doug Bradley, a name that became synonymous with Hellraiser), Women, Chatterer and Butterball are impressive in all its gory glory of S & M. Someone once said that if you gathered all the icons of horror at a table, Pinhead is the only one using silver. After seeing this Hellraiser film again, which seems to be a very true statement. Apart from the cenobitical, Frank is an extraordinary sight to behold. The effects of the Great Bob team has outdone themselves. Everyone who has created Barker amazes me. It's really pushing the envelope here. Images of darkness and the concept of regret setting are incredible. Why was not the most original films? Today everyone seems to extract the same concepts. Hellraiser is a completely original experience mysterious. It is one of the few films I can think of that was unique and has remained single after all these years. There are many opinions about the aftermath. Mine is to stop after Hellraiser II, II, is the end of the true dark nature of these films (although III is certainly a guilty pleasure). If you have not, however, this very rare classic terror immediately. It is without doubt one of my favorites of all time.
