| This is one of the worst movies I've seen! As one who saw / read some versions of "King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table", this is by far the worst version I found. The screenplay is simply awful - I would not be surprised if someone sued the writer ... Sean Connery should have known better. Actors in a low yield, and when it happens to all the cast (yes, even Connery), I can not blame one person - the director. I think that had much higher expectations for this film, but I did not expect much from him ... and I definitely did not expect THIS! The First Knight film just hits rock bottom. Avoid at all costs, and to warn all you care about. |
| In the tradition of fantasy schlock films such as Deathstalker and the Beastmaster series is "First Gentleman." Like the movies, including bad accents that disappear quickly, sets and materials that look like sets and matte paintings, paintings, and several machines, which obviously run on electricity. It is a brief narration of the Arthurian legend to avoid the things that make the Arthurian legend exciting - all the magic is cut and becomes nothing more than a soap opera in tights. Even the address is completely disoriented. The battle scenes were filmed in a "police" shaky camera style that is not only unpleasant, but slightly nauseating. The curious thing about First Gentleman is that some sports players making high platform down to the platform for action. Julia Ormond as Guinevere is perpetually dazed, Richard Gere plays Lancelot as Kevin Costner, and the worst of all strokes, Sean Connery can not seem to make a single emotion or facial expression. A telling scene is interrupted when L & G in the act of love, and just looking blankly at them, looking more bored than anything else, which is basically the reaction of the audience. Even the death of Arthur is so terribly wrong and acted DivX film First Knight that provoked laughter from the entire audience. If you're looking for a good story of the Arthurian legend, Excalibur see. If you are not at all picky, or just a rabid fan Richard Gere and indiscriminate, first gentleman, at least to hold more. |
| The first time I saw the First Knight Drama movie I liked quite well, but do not hold a second or third sight. Not much depth or texture to it. Sean Connery is a great Arthur in love with a much younger Guinevere. Show your talent and when he has to show the dilemma of having to deal harshly with two people she loves, who have betrayed him. Richard Gere is completely lost a game in English, even a century ago. He does a much better job playing a fighter pilot in training (officer and a gentleman), who does it as a knight of the roundtable. Julia Ormand appears to treat its role as Guinevere how a dummy can. It looks nice, smiling when the director tells frowns and when unhappy. She did nothing that convinced me I was in love with either of these two men. The movie: First Knight is too like most others. Camelot on Broadway is a better production with Julie Andrews and Richard Burton ... you can do as did the late JFK and listen to the album and get a deeper enjoyment of seeing this production. Or see King Arthur 2004, which is much closer to the historical versions of Arthur Camelot. Learn a little about why there is a legend Arthur. |
| In my opinion, one of the worst movies in history. This First Knight movie shows how Europeans think Americans like to see the Middle Ages. Disney-like castle, weapons, machinery and arsenal invented centuries later. If you were a pure fantasy DivX film First Knight that has no connection with reality is still a bad movie, but perhaps not so bad. Richard Gere as Lancelot is entirely missplaced (One of the scenes was the most fun on the battlefield in slowmotion which seemed more like a shampoo commercial in which a historical film). Overall totally stupid. |
| I have just been laughing at my car away from reading all the other reviews of this movie. Oh dear:) Yes, if you have any level - knowledge of the legends Aurtherian, then this DivX film First Knight will make you grind your teeth in despair. I think my sister had rented, I knew that would be bad. I still seen until the end - with a grim, half WinCE, expression, as if witnessing a car accident. It's all about the evils of Hollywood - honestly - and just donate the money to charity and screenwriters kick in the shins. The fact that they had a fine history and a butcher anyway ... ... I am sure you have read all the comments ... I wonder if it will become one of those "so bad it's good" movies, because some of them still makes me giggle. The fact that the uniforms of all the knights wore Jerkins seemed more like Star Trek, and 'It's a blow to the' Challanges Gere (who must be beaten with a pointy stick), are remarkable points of madness.
