Film adaptation of street tough Jim Carroll's epistle about his kaleidoscopic free fall into the harrowing world of drug addiction. As a member of a seemingly unbeatable high school basketball squad, Jim's life centers around the basketball court and the court becomes a metaphor for the world in his mind. A best friend who is dying of leukemia, a coach ('Swifty') who takes unacceptable liberties with the boys on his team, teenage sexual angst, and an unhealthy appetite for heroin — all of these begin to encroach on young Jim's dream of becoming a basketball star. Soon, the dark streets of New York become a refuge from his mother's mounting concern for her son. He can't go home and his only escape from the reality of the streets is heroin for which he steals, robs and prostitutes himself. Only with the help of Reggie, an older neighborhood friend with whom Jim 'picked up a game' now and then, is he able to begin the long journey back to sanity.

That Leonardo was the first DVD movie Basketball Diaries, The role, and he does a great job as Jim Carroll. The Basketball Diaries, The Crime movie cheats him from time to time, but gives you a consistent and credible performance. He is assisted by an excellent supporting cast, especially Mark Wahlberg and Lorraine Bracco. Children who think drugs are fun and games you should see this film, you get extra credit for not glamorizing drugs.

This Basketball Diaries, The Crime film is an unapologetic look at the plunge into the nightmare world of drugs and teen angst. Although based on a true story (however slight) that has great merit in itself. It leaves the way preachy political correctness and takes on the road without any warning. Frees the viewer to form their own opinion. I love it!

Can I say I was impressed with this film. Shows the truth about drugs and what they can do for you. After I saw this movie, I went and found the book and read it. It is sad after the movie, but seeing the performance of Leonardo is very effective. Jim Carroll is a basketball player in high school, which occasionally stoned with his friends. But eventually it becomes brutally addicted to drugs and loses everything he has worked. Leonard, you did well. 8 / 10

This is a very good movie: Basketball Diaries, The depressing. However, you can not make a good DivX film Basketball Diaries, The for the fight against drugs without depressing. DiCaprio is brilliant. Arnie from What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Richard the beach, and Jim Carroll's Basketball Diaries Leon are deeper about the characters. He is an excellent actor. The scenes you are more scenes of the withdrawal, and whenever it is faced with his mother in the film. This Basketball Diaries, The film deserves a 10

I can not believe that Requiem for a dream is on the list of 250 more, but this is not. I never thought this Basketball Diaries, The movie would be so incredibly underrated! This was the only DVD film Basketball Diaries, The that made me completely swear off drugs. The characters are so young and vulnerable and you get to see a little bit into this world of drugs and violence and be completely swept away. In Requiem for a dream, the characters start doing harder drugs and that just comes to see that everything goes wrong, it just seemed like suddenly. The characters are not so nice and he seemed a little abrupt ending leaving us without knowing what will happen to the characters. I have to give him props though for some brilliant scenes, like when I go into the fetal position at the end. Basketball Diaries, on the other hand is involved and attached to the characters. Getting to see the basketball throw his career and his life. The part where Lewis goes through withdrawal is so real and horrible. And after that everything goes through the pain, throwing them away and goes straight to the drug. This movie: Basketball Diaries, The is so incredible, we really want more people who see and think the same. Shay
